A family owned business James & Alex Balfour own The Tides. They sympathetically renovated the hotel after buying the lodge in 2004. With 20 years hotel experience James has been running quality hotels and safari lodges for 20 years. Madagascar Bamboo is working proudly on fused bamboo products. Our main products are the varnished planks in various forms and dimension which combine the quality of tropical hardwood and ecological properties of renewable and fast growth bamboo. Currently, we are collaborating with 90 employees in our plant. We can produce 3 and 1/2 containers of dense panel, our basic product. We are active during all the process, from collecting to producing, till ready to export all over the world. Founders and the staff are mainly concern about the social responsability and environmental aspects. We are providing jobs inside the plant and outside to the rural workers. We are planting of bamboo to equilibrate our emission of carbon. We are collecting bamboo directly in the villages, by this way to help rural population to fight against precarity and poverty
