Alternative dispute resolution to ensure that the Motor Industry and consumers receive the justice and treatment that we all as citizens of South Africa deserve. The Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa (MIOSA) is a totally independent institution that focuses on the resolution of disputes where a deadlock has been reached between the motor and related industries and their customers. The MIOSA therefore strives to contribute to the continuous improvement of customer care in the motor industry to the benefit of all parties concerned.  The services offered to consumers by the MIOSA is free of charge. However, should it prove necessary and a technical inspection has to be carried out by the MIOSA, the costs incurred during such an inspection will be for the complainant's account. Prior approval will be obtained by the office of the MIOSA.  The MIOSA also educates - by means of the printed media, radio and television - vehicle owners of the procedures to be followed regarding service, costs and handling of complaints. It endeavours to save time, money and frustration for both the motorist and the industry.  The MIOSA is funded by the Automotive Industry. However, the automotive industry has no say in the running of the organisation, nor do they have any influence in the rulings made by the MIOSA.  The MIOSA is, in essence, an autonomous institution that acts as a referee between the motor industry and the motorist.

Unemployment is unsustainably high in South Africa. Manufacturing is the sector that offers the greatest potential to create jobs at respectable pay levels. These jobs will create a bigger market and economy for all, leading to higher levels of equality and government income, to enable delivery of better services and support to the poorest. A strong and healthy manufacturing sector requires a deliberate and positive approach by all stakeholders to bring about an environment that is conducive to increased investment into manufacturing, improved competitiveness and job creation. For a multitude of reasons, for which we bear collective responsibility, that approach has not been timeously forthcoming, leaving our manufacturing sector lagging after the recession of 2009. Nevertheless, many of the challenges facing manufacturing in South Africa today can be addressed by adjustments to our approach to economic policy development and implementation, as well as to how we govern and how we engage our trading partners to ensure a level playing field for our industries. ? ‘The Manufacturing Circle provides the platform for manufacturers to position the sector as the growth engine of the South African economy. The Manufacturing Circle is the voice for South African Manufacturing’. The Manufacturing Circle spans all types of manufacturing, and speaks for all South African manufacturers. We ensure that our sector is consulted and heard when important policies are negotiated with government.   The Manufacturing Circle does not compete with any existing organisation. We promote a positive policy environment for manufacturing growth.  We do not function as an industry development body or an employer organisation. Our approach is co-operative, providing leadership to the sector, across the sector.

The organisation operates as a subsidiary of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA), an entity owned by Gauteng Provincial Government’s Department of Economic Development. It was established as a government support centre to increase the local automotive industry’s global competitiveness and to promote Gauteng as the automotive industry investment destination of choice. The AIDC prides itself as a world-class organisation which specialises in Skills Development and Training, Enterprise Development, Incubation Programmes, Management of Incentive Programmes, and offers state-of-the-art manufacturing support facilities. The organisation has expedited economic growth within the automotive sector by partnering with key stakeholders such as industry leaders, government, and non-government agencies, among others. The AIDC’s partnership with various OEMs and local government has resulted in the establishment of two Incubation Hubs in the province. Current Incubation programmes include the AIDC’s Automotive Incubation Centre at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa’s (FMCSA) plant in Silverton and the Winterveld Township Enterprise Hub: Automotive in Winterveld. Plans are underway to build a second Automotive Incubation Centre which will be built within Nissan’s Rosslyn plant in 2016, and additional Township Enterprises in the Province. In June 2014, the AIDC launched the Gauteng Automotive Learning Centre in Rosslyn. The Learning Centre caters for the needs of industry in skills development and training. The AIDC manages the Automotive Supplier Park (ASP), an automotive hub based in Rosslyn, housing various automotive component manufacturers, suppliers and service providers to OEMs including BMW, Nissan, Ford, Iveco and Tata. The AIDC has also played a fundamental role in the roll-out of Total Productive Maintenance within South Africa. A key drive for the AIDC is to promote Gauteng as an attractive automotive destination. Gauteng, although landlocked, is close to the northern borders of South Africa, making it an ideal gateway to sub-Saharan Africa. Gauteng offers an excellent manufacturing base with access to various logistics corridors linking it to various distribution networks. It has a well-developed road, rail and air infrastructure for the efficient export and import of goods. The AIDC understands that in order to become the catalyst for economic growth in the Province, it requires the skills of the “best in the business”.
