Construction Design Share Company is an Architectural and Engineering Consulting firm which has been rendering a wide range of services in building sector (Design, Contract Administrations & Materials Testing) since 1986 and has expanded its service range to Road and Water sector from 1995 onwards. The Company has grown to its present size from a core in the Ministry of Public Works established over forty five years ago. Organization Its accountability being to the Board of Directors appointed by the public Enterprises Supervising Authority, the Company is organized in three operational departments, namely: Design, Contract Administrations & Materials Testing & Foundation Investigation Departments and other support department & services, Administration & Finance Department, Quality Control, Management Information Systems & Business Development are the main ones. Manpower & Educational Background The major asset of the Company is its manpower. It is staffed and managed with Ethiopian nationals who are professionally qualified in a wide range of Engineering disciplines. Its staff includes about 400 technical professionals (July/2002).

We are based in the city centre Kampala, the capital of Uganda which has approximately one million inhabitants. Uganda has been variously described as the “Pearl of Africa” by Sir Winston Churchill; as the "Promised Land" by Mary Stuart and in more recent times as one of the most corrupt nations in the world by many commentators. To a large extent Uganda’s post-independence history has earned her much negative press but the truth of the matter is a pearl is a pearl. It may become drossy but all it takes is some polishing before it returns to its original pearly state. This, in a nut shell, is Uganda. The forthcoming Commonwealth Conference that will be hosted by Uganda in 2007, has also given rise to much development at this time. If the map of Africa was in the form of a man, Uganda would be in the heart area. A sound heart is the life of the flesh. Therefore, if Uganda will be healthy, Africa will be healthy. Good health will not depend on physical development per se but on the methods through which these developments are achieved.This calls for a complete change of the mindsets so that the end will stop justifying the means. Uganda needs only a handful of people committed to this cause and this is where the polishing of the pearl begins. She will then rise to bring life not only to Africa but to the nations of the world at large. “ The Pearl of Africa” will shine among the jewels and the “Promised Land" will become the Land of Promise.
