Electrical Maintenance Lusaka Limited and Electrical Instrumentation Services Limited (in the Copperbelt, Kitwe) were established in the late 60s to provide a competitive and diverse range of electrical products and services in Zambia, both retail and wholesale. Today we retail more product lines than any comparable competitor based on the ethos of providing a reliable quality service. We work with the best international brand names to offer an astonishing range of quality products that have proven to be the most reliable in difficult environments. For example, our solar panel installations across Zambia require minimum maintenance and provide clean, cheap and reliable energy for all applications.   The manufacturing division produces reliable quality decorative light fittings for all domestic, commercial, security and street lighting. It also manufactures distribution boards, distribution panels, meter boards, conduit and cable accessories, weatherproof enclosures for electrical motor starters and controls. The companies supply Wika pressure and temperature gauges, Honeywell process control equipment and some of the world's best circuit breakers and power sustainers. We work closely with many business partners to serve our clients. The former include 3M, Crabtree, Cole Palmer, Osram, Legrand, Beka, CBI, Agfa, Hellermann Tyton, Major Tech, Top Tronic, EPC, Moeller, Volex Accessories and Strike Technologies. (However this is not an exhaustive list.)   Our contracting department has completed electrical installations across Zambia in a great variety of industries including banks, shopping centres, hotels, petrol stations, housing projects, conference facilities and airport instrumentation. We have been one of the leaders in this field from the launch of the company and we continue to go from strength to strength.   We are suppliers of Siemens medical solutions and telecommunication systems. These are accompanied with rapid installation, excellent on site service and training. 

Century Electrical was established in 1967 to provide products and services to industries, mines, Eskom, municipalities and contractors, with all their electrical and related requirements. The company has grown steadily from strength to strength and has become a market leader in its field. GAM-Solar Energy & Engineering Co. Ltd. is a leading renewable energy and engineering company based in The Gambia since 1998, dedicated to the promotion and marketing of new energy technologies and energy efficiency for sustainable development. The company’s activities are in four different areas: marketing Photo Voltaic (PV) solar electricity systems, solar water pumping, solar water heating systems (SWH) and energy efficiency compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). The company’s experience in The Gambia is the installation and after sales services (maintenance) of some 1000 Solar Home Systems, 38 larger rural village solar water pumping systems (up to 200,000 ltrs/day capacity), and battery bank backup systems for the private sector. Additionally some 550 portable solar lanterns were marketed. GAM-Solar’s activities started when it received a subsidy for a PV pilot project from the Dutch Government (DGIS, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) on the basis of a feasibility study conducted by Ecofys Consultants of The Netherlands in 1998. The project was a preparation for a large-scale program for implementation of (rural) solar electrification with the objective to provide household and business electricity through the installation of solar home systems and portable PV lanterns. Implementation of the pilot project was completed in April 2001. Since 2001, GAM-Solar has done major projects with funding from the EU, UN, Japan and other national and international organisations, see solar and water for villages. GAM-Solar Energy employs 25 employees (June 2006).

Founded in 1983 to exploit the patented design for an Automatic Voltage Switcher or AVS, Sollatek (UK) Ltd has since become one of the leading makers of specialist products to protect electrical and electronic equipment in the world. Sollatek Kenya was started in 1985 and is the leading branch within the group. Now with offices in 14 countries and an active distribution network in 24 more, Sollatek has grown rapidly to become a truly global company. The AVS was the first in what has become a complete family of products designed to deal effectively with the disturbances, such as under and over voltage levels, spikes and surges that are increasingly common in the mains electricity supply and can damage or even destroy connected electrical equipment. Fuelled by the explosive growth in the use of electronic controls within most electrically powered equipment, usually with a sensitive micro circuit at its heart, a thriving market has developed for Sollatek products as users discover how vulnerable their equipment is to unreliable or poor quality electricity supply. As a result Sollatek has become a household name, particularly in the developing world, where electrical utility suppliers still strive to provide a stable and continuous source of power.  Today the Sollatek voltage protection product range includes full lines of voltage switchers, stabilisers, conditioners and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). So whether the need is to control the quality or continuity of electrical supply, Sollatek is sure to have a solution. All research & development of Sollatek products is done at its 15,000 square feet facility in Slough, England, while manufacturing is done in China & Egypt where they are shipped to over 190 countries worldwide.

IET was formed in 1949 as International Aeradio EA Ltd and worked with Avionics Industry. In the eighties IET acquired the Motorola agency for Two-Way radio products and paging systems for East Africa. In 1998 the communications business was hived off into an associated company, ICS Ltd. In 1990 IET was appointed a Siemens agent in Kenya for A&D, PTD, I&S and PG and served the market for spare part needs and large infrastructure projects. in 1997 IET started to offer Siemens Simatic training in Kenya and over the years a need was identified for small to medium sized projects. In the last 3 years IET has successfully developed a strong local team of technical people who are able to offer Turn-key systems at affordable prices with a local presence. This has made IET unique in the market in niches such as Automation systems, Automation training etc. In 2001 IET was appointed Epcos AG agent for the E African Region. 2001 appointed Siemens representative for Uganda. Uganda operations started in August 2001.
