Somarain Oriental Shipping Co. Ltd  is based in Sudan and is one of the major Sudanese shipping companies, a private sector, most professional organization that provides all commercial & marine services. The main activities are: shipping agency services, sea freighting, shipping, stevedoring, forwarding (FCL- LCL), customs clearance, inland transport, tanker broking and chartering of different range of cargo vessels. Somarain Oriental Co. is also active in cross borders trade between Sudan, Ethiopian & Eritrea. Bashayer Marine Terminal (Port Sudan) Bashayer terminal has been officially opened on September IST, 1999, and previously known as "Marsa Inheres". The terminal has been built for the exportation of Sudanese crude oil (Nile Blend). At present there are two tugs at the terminal .The larger one is the "SEA BULK MASTER" that has 3,500 H.P., which goes astern and keeps the tanker off the SBM.There is also a master tug the "NICOLE 4" which was s built in Holland and has 950 H.P. Both of the tugs have P&I cover with the Ship-owners Club. Performance Samarian's operations team in Port Sudan can maximize port performance. Planning and early follow up prior to arrival is required, particularly for FIOS and direct delivery cargoes, to ensure that the consignees complete customs clearance and have trucking guaranteed. Our stevedoring team can provide the highest rates of discharge available in Port Sudan. You will find our port staff available 24 hours a day.

Customs Clearance and Documentation Through our "in-house" customs clearance personnel, we provide full customs clearance service at Khartoum Airport, Soba Customs Terminal outside Khartoum as well as in Port Sudan, including all the necessary documentation and value added services required in connection with the clearance procedure itself, such as, but not limited to approvals from the various Governmental bodies, Ministries and the Central Bank of Sudan. Storage and Warehousing To the disposition of our customers are warehousing facilities in Khartoum and Port Sudan, with space for 12,000MT / up to 4,200 m2 per warehouse - including Temperature-controlled storage for volumes up to 60 m3. At other cities and centres for distribution of cargo we have access to Warehousing and can additionally arrange fenced open-storage with guards wherever required. Household Goods and Personal Effects Although not our core business, relocation of household goods and personal effects is one of the services we offer to our customers, including packing, labelling and expediting via sea or air including full destination service in Sudan. NGO's, Embassies and individuals are among our regular customers. Trucks and transport equipment used are inspected and rejected if not up-to standards, one of the main reasons among others the oil Exploration company; Lundin Sudan Limited, chose PAW as their dedicated forwarder in Sudan. In December 2004 we signed a contract with Norwegian Church Aid / ACT / Caritas for clearance and delivery of hundreds of tons relief goods monthly to Darfur for 2005, a contract awarded in competition with other reputable forwarders - PAW Freight & Shipping Ltd., being the ONLY ONE that could DELIVER! Project Management Drawing on the huge resources of our international as well as our local partners, PAW Freight & Shipping can offer project management for the most complex jobs involving use of specialised equipment and peak human resources. Before PAW Freight and Shipping was established, the individual partners were directly involved in the Muglad Basin Pipeline Project, handling the port operation for delivery of the almost 1,500 km pipes arriving, and later undertaking the import customs clearance and inland transport of the 6 pumping stations that were delivered by Weir Pumps / Rolls Royce to GNPOC.
