After he returned to Ethiopia he started participating in the Travel industry in 1994 as a German speaking Guide and Tour Operator through out Ethiopia. His consistency with the travel industry benefited him to gain remarkable knowledge about tourism. In the year 2003 he started his own company namely Tedy Tour and Travel Services Plc. recognized and accepted by Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ethiopia. In our opinion, the consolidated operation of Tourism in all material and technical matters dominates the services that we render to our clients. All Terrain Adventures Uganda (ATAU) has been operating since June 2002. We are based at the main gate to Bujagali Falls, 'East Africa's Centre for Adventure'. From there we have taken thousands of people on our unique quad bike safaris, along the banks of the River Nile and into the warm heart of rural Uganda. We also offer tailored safaris elsewhere in Uganda. "The best ATV safaris on the planet". Peter (PK) and Shirray Knight, originally from the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand and Townsville, Australia respectively, settled at Bujagali Falls after several years running trans-Africa overland trips through; North, West, East and Southern Africa. Prior to that they lived in London, UK where PK raced sidecars. It was at race meetings in the UK that they meet Lawrence and Joy Barry who helped ATAU get started in this unique aspect of the Ugandan tourist industry. Lawrence Barry lives in England with his wife Joy. They have diverse businesses under the LMB name. See www.lmb.co.uk All our staff are Ugandans and live in the villages nearby. We strive to provide the best working conditions in the area. Our guides are; Godfrey Okoth, Herbert Kayunga, Mawazi Nsajja and Henry Byende. They have been with ATAU from the start, as they were part of the team of builders who constructed the site. Their friendly outlook and regard for visitors has developed our reputation as the best in the business and they help to make ATAU's safety record second to none. The craft shop and convenience store were added to provide extra facilities to visitors to the area and the All Terrain Café has now been upgraded to provide a better service for our customers. Grace Asio is the smiling face that café customers have come associate with good service and food. John Egisa has now joined us after completing a university degree in business management that was sponsored by ATAU. Extra staff have also been employed in response to an increase in business. DEVELOPMENT CONTRIBUTIONS. From inception it was agreed with the local councils of each village that we would also make a voluntary 'development contribution' based on a per customer / per village / per trip basis – that is used to fund projects in each village that are of benefit to the whole community. These significant amounts of money have been used for projects such as; building teacher's accommodation, street lighting, tarpaulins for village gatherings, pots and utensils for council uses, repair of water pumps and other projects as specified by the councils. Over the last 2 years we have also been putting money aside to develop a new sports ground for Budondo Sub-County which will be used by all villages in the area. INTO THE FUTURE We now offer ATV/quad bike sales and servicing. We will be importing several different types of new machine for sale. We intend to refresh/upgrade our fleet and will have more second-hand models for sale. Our café has been extended and improved in response to growing demand. We have plans to develop another activity that will be available to families and groups. This will allow us to employ more staff and increase the number of facilities available at Bujagali Falls. ATAU also have plans to create a MX circuit at a location nearer to Kampala, to help develop motor racing in Uganda and provide tailor-made ATV tracks for our customers. Bring it on!
